May God's Will Be Done!

Barack Hussein Obama-“Charismatic”, “Great Orator”, a “Rock Star”. All these adjectives have been used to describe the first African-American presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party (or any major political party in the US) and possibly the first African-American president of the United States (keeping my fingers crossed). Whatever labels you use to describe him, please make sure you include: hopeful, strong and resilience, because up until now, everything but the kitchen sink has been thrown at him to stop history from being made. However, God has said “no” to the naysayer and insisted that HIS Will Be Done, propelling Obama to make history. Wow, where am I going with this?

Well we as humans make plenty of excuses as to why we don’t follow our dreams, particularly the African-American community. Whether it’s taking the plunge into starting our own businesses, changing careers or buying a new home, we always have a reason why we will do it later (or worst yet, won’t do it). However, if you just have faith in God and yourself you will see that no matter what you are trying to achieve, it will be achieved. I am learning this right now, that no matter what others want me to do or think I should be doing, if something isn’t speaking to my spirit, then it’s not God’s will for me. So I have taken the first step into achieving my dreams, I decided to start a business and exert my energies towards raising my children and nurturing my family. I love being an “accessible” mother and wife; and becoming a Work-At-Home mom will afford me that opportunity. It won’t be easy, trust me. I don’t have any savings, a minimal income and big dreams. I’m not going to say that I won’t miss the office gossip, politics or even fighting a crazy commute. But in the grand scheme of things I know that me being accessible to my children, husband and community is what I am placed on earth to do. What are you placed on earth to do? What is tugging at your heart and soul? What have you been fighting? I would like to hear from you. What are your desires, wants, needs, longings? Just know that whatever it is, it was placed in you long before your arrival here on earth. Your steps are already ordered!!!
