From Slavery to President What’s Next?

Today we witnessed history-the inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama- as the 44th President and 1st African-American President of the United States of America. I know the heavens are rejoicing and our ancestors are weeping tears of joy. What an accomplishment! What a glorious moment!

From the “arrival” of the first slave in Jamestown to the Civil Rights Movement. From “Jay-Jay” to “Clair Huxtable”. From Jackie Robinson to The Williams Sisters. From Thurgood Marshall to the late Barbara Jordan, we have proven ourselves to be a race of people comprised of strength, endurance, compassion and love. But what’s next?

After going through two years of campaigning, winning the election by a landslide and finally being sworn in as the 44th President and 1st African-American President of the United States-I ask you-What’s next?

What’s next for you! Is it starting that business? Changing your career path? Buying a home for your family? Getting more involved with your community? What’s next for you and how would you continue the momentum in your life and in the lives of those around you?

I tell you how-you start that business, change that career path, buy that new home, be more involved with your community-that’s how! You just do it! With perseverance, hard work and most importantly a whole lot of faith-you just do it!
